Man Sends Slow Scan Image of His Housecat

ST. WEIRSBURG, Mo. – – Man’s best friend may be a dog, unless it’s the frisky feline owned by Jonathon Climatoris of rural West Flooster County, Missouri.
Climatoris – an amateur radio operator or “ham” – is gaining world-wide popularity as “the guy who sent his cat’s photo over the radio.”
“I’m not really sure what the big deal is,” says Climatoris, who works as a high school A/V tech. “I was operating SSTV on 15 meters. My cat saddled up and lied down next to me. It just popped into my head – snap a photo of my cat and use it as part of the QSO. I guess the rest is history!”
The image of “Mr. Whiskers” quickly caught the eye of several people monitoring the SSTV transmissions.
“I stepped out of the shack for a few minutes. When I returned, I saw the cat’s photo captured on my monitor. The eyes beckoned to me in a way that I can’t explain,” says Pierre Yranket, who lives on a cheese farm outside of Montegnal, France. “I immediately had to save the photo and use it in my own QSOs.”
“Those eyes – they follow you!” declares Antonin Razkebutin, a ham radio operator from Moscow. “You can’t ignore them.”
As of now, Climatoris says he’s pleased with the attention his cat is getting and says it’s “well-deserved.”
“She’s a natural for the camera with her fluffy fur and colorful markings. But he issues this warning and wants it understood clearly: the cat is not allowed to sleep on top of the Alpha Amplifier.

It is fun to watch something go viral. I remember when that pic was posted on twitter yesterday asking to put a caption on it. Funny that it went viral so fast.
