APRS IGATE Sees Big Earnings Forecast

PIGEON FORGE, TN — A local IGATE is seeing big numbers for this quarter.
“I’ve routed over 1800 position packets this month alone,” said Beau Bailey. “And some of those were 18 wheelers,” he added, rubbing his forefinger and thumb together in the universal sign for money. “I charge by the axle.”
Since the beginning of the year, Bailey has sent invoices to over 100 unique APRS IDs. “I’m just waiting for the cash to start rolling in,” he said.
Bailey pulled address data from the FCC ULS database for his billing process. As of publication time, he has not received a payment. When asked how he billed weather stations, Bailey grumbled about how they ”had no place on 144.390.”
“Times have been so good that I’m considering a one-time $1,000 bonus for any digipeater that routes over 500 packets to me a month,” said Bailey. “That’s assuming that my computer doesn’t crash and I lose all my settings in my UI-VIEW.”
