BURBANK, California – In a move that has many amateur radio operators nodding their head in agreement, Yaesu Radio company officials are announcing an official corporate name change.

Yaesu changes nameYAESU Radio will officially become YEASU Radio, effective on September 1.

Company president Mike Lovington says it’s a move that is long overdue.

“Have you checked QRZ, eBay or other online ham radio forums recently? Most hams already spell it like that anyhow. It’s always spelled Y-E-A-S-U.”

Additionally, Yaesu/Yeasu executive say the company will soon start marketing name plates, so existing Yaesu owners can become Yeasu owners.

This nameplate mod (Yeasu part # 67-3158NP) will retail for $59.98 at most amateur radio retail stores.

  • Aprilfool in august?

  • Now every time I see my Yeasu FT-7800, I’m going to yell “Yea Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuu huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!” in the same voice as the Yahoo commercials!

  • My kind of humor 🙂

  • Ham’s should just learn how to spell it the way it is.
