PETALUMA, Calif. –A recent change to the Geritol Net has its members standing tall with pride. “We knew we had a problem and we just couldn’t keep it up. We had to fix this,” said Geritol Net member Steven Braytonheimer.

The net members decided it was time to get a new sponsor.

“A lot of us found we needed some help keeping the tower guyed, if you know what I mean,” said long-time net control Willard Johnson. “Most of us spend all day, every day, in front of our radio or watching TV. I saw a commercial and that’s where I got the idea.”

A phone call to the corporate office of Cialis was all it took. Cialis Vice President Andrew Martingale says the decision wasn’t hard. “These guys are right in our demographic sweet spot. And we really liked that they would say our name on the air a lot.” The new agreement comes with one requirement: the net must be renamed the Cialis Net.

It’s a move some critics are calling the “corporatization of amateur radio.”

“My hair went gray in the 1970s but you don’t see me trying to rename the Silverhair Net,” said one amateur radio operator in a radiogram to this reporter.

The Cialis net will meet every night, but for no longer than four hours. “If the net stays up for a period of more than four hours, we have people prepared to call a doctor,” said Braytonheimer.
